SWIMMING POOL
REQUIREMENTS
Under the State of
Michigan Building Codes governing above ground pools, “any
pool with a side wall height of 24 inches or more is required
to be enclosed by a fence no less than 48 inches in
height”. We have seen an increase in the amount of above
ground pools in the City, especially the type that have soft,
sidewalls, are blue in color, and circular in shape. These
pools are required to be fenced under the State Building Code
due to the fact that the sidewall is in excess of 24 inches
and the pool has the capability of holding water in excess of
24 inches.
We are asking that
if you are considering this type of pool to please call the
Code Enforcement Department at 647-2935 before your purchase
so that we can determine the requirements that you’ll need to
meet.
